I hope I am remembered for these:

The '*' in the first expression is function composition. It is inhibition in the second. 

The first says that 'e ^' estimates a classifier 'e' by measuring (mu), picking a best model with those measurements (phi) and classifying that. In other words, things are classified by how the nearest ideal example is classified.

The second says that conflict is resolved.
